The Latest...

The first Friday in November, while showing our jewelry at Art Step in downtown Bryan, a friend and I were approached by a representative of a local business about possibly meeting with her bosses and her to see whether or not our jewelry was a fit for their store.  The very next week, we heard back from her and set up a meeting.

The meeting went well, and they decided to sell our jewelry in their store.  So...Praise God...as of last Friday, some of our jewelry is in a display case in Scripture Haven in the mall.

If you are in the area, check it out!

Cheers,

New designs...

Here are some new lockets that I will roll out at Texas Reds this weekend.  The Brazos Valley Jewelry Artists Guild will be by the Varisco building in downtown Bryan on Saturday.  Stop by and say hi if you are around!

These lockets are symbols of God's love for us.  I believe that God gave me the talent I possess and any inspiration comes from Him.  Enjoy...

From left to right...circle (sign of eternity) opens to read, "The gift of God is eternal life"; the cross (a symbol of Christ's sacrifice) opens to read, "with His stripes we are healed"; the heart (symbol of God's love) opens to read, "For God so loved the world"; and the flower (also a symbol of God's love) opens to read "Consider the lilies."

Until Next time...

Time Flies...

WoW!  It's been over a month since my last post. I have been busy trying to get my jewelry and scrapbook classes started at Michaels.  It's been a rough road, but I have faith that it will pick up.  I have a new marketing plan, so I'm going to switch gears and go with it!

Not much happening on the jewelry front right now.  Between teaching my scrapbook classes, trying to advertise both jewelry and scrapbook classes, volunteering for Crockett Elementary's Fall festival, and being sick, I haven't had time to create jewelry.  However, this weekend that will change.  I have some new designs on which to work; some will end up on the website, and some will be exhibited and sold at Art Step (October 7, downtown Bryan) and Texas Reds' Festival (October 8, downtown Bryan); some will end up in all three places!!

I will post pics of my progress, so stay tuned!

Box Clasp...

Finally!  Here is the second box clasp I made.  I posted pics before it was complete, but here is the final product.  I decided to string a necklace on which to use it...I liked it so much, I have to keep it:-)

I will eventually make another one to sell...

On hold...

So...creating is on hold for a few days while I rearrange and reorganize my studio in an attempt to maximize the small space that I have.  My DH dragged my workbench in from the garage and put it back together again in my studio because I needed a better place to spread out my jewelry stuff.  Right now I have part of my tools and supplies in my studio, and the other part in the dining area.   It's not that conducive to creating because I always have to get up to go get something out of the other room.

I decided that wouldn't work anymore, and am going to put my soldering station in my studio directly in front of the window---that way there will be ventilation.  Ventilation is the reason I currently have it in the dining area.  There are plenty of windows to crack when needed.  However, it just isn't convenient, so a change is due.

"Wow!", you say, "A whole room dedicated to making jewelry!" Well, not really.  I also have my sewing and card making areas in there.  I know I probably have too many interests, but it's the ADD in me.  I have to have a variety of things going on...

Anyway, hopefully I'll be back up and running in another day or so...we'll see!
Back to sorting wire snippets according to metal type (that's a whole other post!).

Demo...

That would be "demonstration", not "demolition"...I help my first demo at Michael's today.  It wasn't at a really high traffic time slot, but I still had fun.  As I was working, I was marveling at the fact that I was getting paid for doing something I love!  It was amazing.  It didn't matter that I only got to people to sign up for more information, I still had fun.  It was the quickest two hours of my life.

I am trying to find different ways to get the word out about my classes.  I ordered business cards with the basic information and my instructor email address on them. They are really cute blue with zebra stripes on the left side.  I can't wait until they arrive.  I also started a blog with class information on it. After I have some classes, I will also post student work on it.  It will be fun for people to see their work online!! Right now I only have August's class information on it, but I will add to it as time progresses.  Check it out at www.funjewelryclasses.blogspot.com.

If you would like more information about classes at the College Station Michael's, contact me at makingjewelryfun@gmail.com.

Cheers until next time,
