My New Apprentice. . .

My wonderful husband decided he would like to learn some metalsmithing techniques.  I wasn't sure how well I would do as his teacher, but decided to give it a try.  Now, you have to understand, my husband and I are two VERY different people.  I am very right-brained, spontaneous, and ADD; Scott, on the other hand, is much more left-brained, orderly, and a perfectionist.

We had our first lesson last night which netted a very nice piece.  He was a wonderful student and caught on quickly.  I was able to overlook his tendencies toward non-spontaneity, and he was able to work through my tendencies to want to take over while he was forming a line:-)

I was pleased at the outcome and our ability to work together.  We may make a husband and wife team after all!

A Success...

I participated in my first public show on Friday night.  It was great fun! I went with the intent of getting my name out there and actually ended up selling three pieces.  Now before you say, "Only three?" Let me say that this show has historically been more of an exhibit, so I was absolutely thrilled to actually sell something.  I enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know some of the Brazos Valley Jewelry Artist's Guild members better.  My awesome husband was there to support me, and some of my friends stopped by as well.  All in all, it was a great night.

I was going to take pictures to post, but I got so caught up in the evening, that I completely forgot!
